Five suggestions to avoid getting sunburned lips this summer

The season has here, and you need to protect your skin from hyperpigmentation and UV damage. Lip skin has to be protected from UV damage since it is so delicate and thin. In actuality, our lips' skin is four times thinner than the rest of our face. Furthermore, unlike the rest of our body, which is kept moisturised by sweat and oil glands, our lips do not sweat or emit oil.

Following are some suggestions for preventing sunburn on our lips:

1. Do not lick your lips.

Lip chapping is brought on by repeated licking and dryness by rapid saliva evaporation. Lip products with flavours should be avoided since they might be enticing.

2. Apply SPF-containing lip balm.

In order to prevent getting a sunburn on your lips throughout the summer, it is imperative that you apply lip balms or lipsticks with SPF 20 or higher. Get a lip balm with at least a 20 SPF rating and generously apply it to your lips before going outdoors.

3. Regularly exfoliate

The summer heat may cause your lips to become dry and cracked. Exfoliating your lips will eliminate dead skin cells and give them a smoother appearance throughout the summer. They also shield your lips from drying out and keep them soft and moisturised.

4. Retain hydration

Keep yourself hydrated since dehydration might result in browning of the lips. So, be sure you drink at least 8 to 10 glasses of water each day.

5. Quit smoking.

Furthermore, smoking excessively tans your lips. Men should not smoke since it not only damages their health but also causes their lips to become brown.

6. Avoid licking your lips.

Picking at your lips might slow down the healing process and increase your risk of developing an infection. Additionally, cheilitis, an infection of the lips, might be brought on by the repeated picking and biting.
