IND vs. ENG: India wins the first day of the Dharamsala Test with a dominant overall performance


<p>The Indian cricket team took command of the fifth Test match against England on Thursday after dominating the first day of play. After England was bowled out for 218 by Kuldeep Yadav and Ravichandran Ashwin, who shared nine wickets, India was raised to 135/1 in just thirty overs by openers Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal.<br />
With well-timed wickets, Kuldeep destroyed England’s top order, and Ashwin subsequently ran amok with four wickets. At the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala, in-form Zak Crawley scored an impressive 79 off 108 balls, but no other English batsman was able to reach the 30-run threshold.</p>

<p>After that, Rohit hit 52* off 83 balls and Yashasvi Jaiswal hit 57 off just 58 balls to record his fifth fifty-plus score in this series, helping India reach 135/1 in 30 overs while trailing by just 83 runs.</p>
<p>The hosts made one change to their starting eleven after securing a series victory: Devdutt Padikkal, an uncapped player, took Rajat Patidar’s spot.</p>
<p>With 100/2 in 25.3 overs, England dominated the first session of the day thanks to an explosive innings from Zak Crawley. In the 38th over, Kuldeep dismissed Crawley, causing an embarrassing collapse for England.</p>
<p>While attempting to provide some balance, Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow both lost wickets in quick succession. With just 218 runs scored in 57.4 overs, Ashwin claimed the final four wickets for India to end England’s opening innings. Kuldeep finished with five wickets for 72, the best figures of any Test player.</p>
<p>The playing eleven for India is as follows: Dhruv Jurel (wk), Ravichandran Ashwin, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Shubman Gill, Devdutt Padikkal, Ravindra Jadeja, Sarfaraz Khan, and Yashasvi Jaiswal.</p>
<p>England’s starting eleven are: Tom Hartley, Shoaib Bashir, Mark Wood, James Anderson, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Ben Stokes (c), Jonny Bairstow, Ben Foakes (wk), and Zak Crawley.</p>
